Reinstating Your Google Business Profile That Was Taken Down

by Brian Lawrence

An optimized Google Business Profile (GBP) is crucial for your wedding industry business to connect with customers in the digital landscape. Your GBP is a powerful tool that provides numerous details about your services, including physical addresses and phone numbers. Occasionally, Google may identify an issue with a GBP and suspend it.

A suspended profile can lead to frustration and confusion, particularly if you’re unsure why Google decided to take action. That’s why I’ve put together a few ways to get your GBP reinstated and back on track.

Determine the Cause

If you have any idea why the profile was suspended, act on this knowledge as best you can before trying to reinstate the profile.

If Google has given you an indication as to the issue, this is the first place to start. If you have a theory about the problem, try working on that first. A random general example would be if someone recently changed the GBP business name to incorporate a keyword not part of the regular business name.

The name of the game is essentially to better establish your business’ credibility. Invest some time into fortifying your exposure and legitimacy – you do not want to waste a reinstatement attempt.

Identify Your Profile’s ID Number

After exploring all of the possible issues that could’ve caused Google to suspend your profile, you need to fill out a reinstatement request. But first, you need to identify your profile’s ID number. I’ve attached a visual step-by-step guide and have listed the basic steps here:

Find Your ID

1. Click the three dots located next to “Profile Strength.

2. Select “Business Profile Settings.”

3. Go to “Advanced Settings.”

4. Find your GBP number at the top.

Fill Out the Reinstatement Form

Finally, fill out the reinstatement form found here.

Once you submit your reinstatement request, you can expect Google to review and resolve the issue within two weeks. If, for whatever reason, google rejects your reinstatement request, you can appeal the decision.
